Genome Wide Association Studies (GWAS) and Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs)

In this resource, we will explore SNPs and genome wide association studies in more detail. We will first review the basics of DNA as a foundation to understanding SNPs. We will thendiscuss genome-wide association studies, including relevant definitions, study procedures, andtypes of information that can be obtained. Finally, we will consider how genome-wideassociation studies may benefit us in the future as part of the trend toward personalizedmedicine and some real-life examples of genome-wide association studies in breast cancer.
